Malabar Neem Project Report (2 years old plants)
Malabar Neem Project Report- Malabar Neem Cost and Profit Details:
In this article, let us discuss Malabar neem plantation cost and its profit details. Malabar neem is one of the fastest growing plants that fetch sweet profits in a short period of time with low maintenance.
Malabar Neem Project Report Assumptions:
This sample project is for 5 acres of land and we will only include farming cost, not the land cost. We assume, you already own the land.
Malabar Neem Project Report – Scenario-1:
Assuming the plants are grown for the paper industry and cutting will take place on 3 years age plants.
Plant-to-Plant Distance = 8 feet.
Row-to-Row Distance = 6 feet.
Total Number of Plants per acre = 907.
Total Number of Plants for 5 acres ‘A’ = 5 x 907 = 4535.
Each Plant Cost including Digging of 2 Feet x 2 Feet Pit = 50 Rs.
Total Plantation Cost ‘B’ = 4535 x 50 = 2, 26, 750 Rs.
(Note: If the whole plantation is given on contract basis it would be cheaper than going for pits digging separately).
Vermicompost and Other Fertilizers/acre (First Year) ‘C’ = 6,000 Rs.
For 5 acre fertilizers cost = 5 x 6,000 = 30,000 Rs.
Other labor costs for pruning and maintenance ‘D’ = 30,000 Rs/year.
Drip Irrigation cost/acre (Assuming there is an already borewell existing) = 25,000 Rs.
For 5 acres Drip cost ‘E’ = 5 x 25,000 = 1, 25,000.
Total Initial set up Cost for 5 Acres Malabar neem plantation in First Year = A+B+C+D+E= 2, 26, 750 + 30,000 + 30,000 + 1, 25,000 = 4, 11,750 Rs.
Second year cost includes Labour and Manure-Fertilizers = 30,000 + 40,000 = 70,000 Rs.
Third Year Cost includes Labour and Manure-Fertilizers = 30,000 + 50,000 = 80,000 Rs.
Total Cost of 5 acre Malabar neem plantation for all three years = 4, 11,750 + 70,000 + 80,000 = 5, 61,750 Rs.
Market Value: To market the Malabar Neem, contact the local paper industry or matchbox industry or plywood industry. In this case, Paper industry market value is about 5,500 Rs for 1 ton wood.
Total Income from 5 acres plantation: In 3 years, one can expect on an average, tree weight about 200 kg/tree.
Total weight of the plants/acre: 907×200 kg = 1, 81,400/1000 = 181 tonnes.
Mortality = 25 tonnes (Approx).
Total marketable weight = 181 – 25= 156 tonnes/acre.
For 5 acres = 5x 156 = 780 tonnes.
Total income from 5 acres plantation sale = 780 x 5,500 = 42, 90,000.
Net Profit after 3 years = Total Income – Investment for 3 years = 42, 90,000 – 5, 61,750 = 37,28,250 (Thirty two lakhs twenty eight thousand two hundred and fifty rupees).

Malabar Neem Project Report – Scenario -2:
Assuming the plants are grown for plywood industry and cutting will take place on or after 6 years age plants.
Plant-to-Plant Distance = 10 feet.
Row-to-Row Distance = 10 feet.
Total Number of Plants per acre = 430.
Total Number of Plants for 5 acres ‘A’ = 5 x 430 = 2150.
Each Plant Cost including Digging of 2 Feet x 2 Feet Pit = 50 Rs.
Total Plantation Cost ‘B’ = 2150 X 50 = 1, 07, 500 Rs.
(Note: If the whole plantation is given on contract basis it would be cheaper than going for pits digging separately).
Vermicompost and Other Fertilizers per acre (First Year) ‘C’ = 6,000 Rs.
For 5 acre fertilizers cost = 5 x 6,000 = 30,000 Rs.
Other labor cost for pruning and maintenance ‘D’ = 30,000 Rs/year.
Drip Irrigation cost /acre (Assuming that there is already a bore well existing in the field) = 25,000 Rs.
For 5 acres Drip cost ‘E’ = 5 x 25,000 = 1, 25,000.
Total Initial set up Cost for 5 Acres Malabar neem plantation in First Year = A+B+C+D+E= 1, 07, 500 + 30,000 + 30,000 + 1, 25,000 = 2, 92,500 Rs.
Second year cost includes Labour and Manure-Fertilizers = 30,000 + 40,000 = 70,000 Rs.
Third Year Cost includes Labour and Manure-Fertilizers = 30,000 + 50,000 = 80,000 Rs.
Fourth year Cost includes Labour and Manure-Fertilizers = 30,000 + 60,000 = 90,000 Rs.
Fifth year Cost includes Labour and Manure-Fertilizers = 30,000 + 70,000 = 1, 00,000 Rs.
Total Cost of 5 acre Malabar neem plantation for all five years = 2, 92,500 + 70,000 + 80,000 + 90,000 +1, 00,000 = 6, 32,500 Rs.
Market Value: To market the Malabar Neem, contact local plywood industry. In this case, plywood industry market value is about 7,000 Rs per tree (Note: It’s not per ton but it’s per the whole tree).
Total Income from 5 acres plantation: In 5 to 6 years, one can expect 7000 to 8000 rupees per each tree.
Total tress in 5 acres = 5 x 430 = 2150.
After mortality, Total number of Trees = 2150 – 150 = 2,000 (approx).
Total Income from sale = 2000 x 7000 = 1, 40,00,000 Rs (1 crore 40 lakhs rupees).
Net Profit after 6 years = Total income – Total Investment = 1, 40,00,000 – 6, 32,500 = 1,33,67,500 (1 crore 33 lakhs sixty seven thousand and five hundred rupees approximately).
